Location

The Hotel De La Mer is ideally situated on the St.Marychurch end of the Babbacombe road.

Only 100m flat walk from the historic Babbacombe Cliff Railway to Oddicombe Beach and 110m from Babbacombe Promenade, the jewel in Torquays crown one of Britains highest promenades.

The beautiful Babbacombe Promenade offers stunning views right across Lyme Bay with Portland Bill being visible on a clear day. For the more energetic there are footpaths from the Promenade leading to Oddicombe and Babbacombe Beaches, both situated in Babbacombe Bay. The beaches offer a café, boat hire, water sports and fantastic fishing. From the beaches you may take one of the coastal footpaths which offer miles of breath taking scenery and wildlife.

For the less energetic there is the Babbacombe Cliff Railway to take you down to Oddicombe Beach, or a visit to one of the many Pubs, Cafes, the fantastic Angels Tea Rooms or even Babbacombe Theatre all situated along the Promenade.

Within easy walking distance from the hotel is St.Marychurch Shopping Precient which is host to a quaint and varied selection of shops, pubs, cafes and churches. Here you will also find Bygones Historical Museum, the famous Babbacombe Model Village and just around the corner Torquay Golf Course.

Or in the opposite direction we have Babbacombe shops, again offering a good selection of shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and a church. Still within walking distance is Cary Park, which has a childrens play park, bowling green, putting green and tennis courts.

For those looking for peace and quiet look no further than across the road, for here is situated the tranquil and beautiful Tessier Gardens. This is an adults only garden which is tucked away and impeccably maintained, perfect for a lazy afternoon.

A frequent bus service runs from outside the hotel giving you easy access to Torquay's main town centre. Here you will find a vast array of shops, pubs clubs, eateries, amusement arcades and in the summer months a fun fair. Torquay is surrounded by a host of delightful towns and villages each one unique and special including Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dartmouth, Paignton and Brixham to name but a few.

Further a field we have the historical cities of Plymouth and Exeter both making great day trips, or Devon's national park Dartmoor giving you a rugged expanse of sublime scenery, villages and wildlife including the famous wild Dartmoor Ponies.
